Balmain Ivoire. Usually I love going on an on about fragrances but with this one I'll sum it up by simply saying, it's lovely, and definitely night and day from another love, Balmain's smoky Ambre Gris.
Something comfortable to slip into. Little to no thought needed. A mood lifter that works with everything thanks to it laying someplace between a classic French perfume and clean, warm skin.
Its allure was more about what was left out of this new (2012) version of Ivoire which can be confused with the vintage Ivoire de Balmain from the 70's. A favorite I hear of both Greta Garbo and Audrey Hepburn. There is no peach, no black licorice, little to no powder from aldehydes, all often found in today's fragrances. Instead there is a spritz of fizzy mandarin orange, a green bouquet of violet and iris', and a woody vetiver base mixed with vanilla that is quite gender neutral. Philosophy Amazing Grace lovers, huge creamy blocks of French gift soap lovers, Marc Jacob Daisy lovers, sniff this one out!
