2015 Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mothers Day Gift Guide by Gift Style Blog Gave That
How I love Mother's Day! One of the few traditional American gifting times of the year when it feels good to splurge on beauty and pampering. If making your own beauty oil from scratch for Mum is a bit too much to muster last minute take a look at what I found on Amazon and in the drugstore:

For anyone who loves to pop into the drugstore for one stop card and gift shopping —man, woman or child— make a B-line for the cosmetics section and see if you can spot this unicorn. The number of the stores I ended up visiting before finding one (the last one) of these L'Oreal La Palette Nude's were slightly ridiculous but you know what? It's worth it because it's truly beautiful. The hype was right! On the #1 version at least and here's why it's perfect for Mum. It feels and looks luxe with a mixture of mat and slightly shimmery shades. Or as I'm always on the lookout for, gossamer wings in a shadow form. A more refined version of the Naked palette by Urban Decay or theBalm's Nude Tude and I have to admit so much better than NYX's Nude on Nude . Nothing chunky or glittery which can crape up on eye lids or cause pesky fall out. Instead it's soft neutral hues ranging from browns and bronze to silver and cream which stays on all day and is super easy to blend with a base or not.  It also comes with a duel ended brush which actually works.

Probably one of my best drugstore gems of year I've found so far. So much so that I showed my Mum who promptly fetched her Lorac Unzipped palette, her, favorite in the world. We just stood their pointing out shades between the two that could be dupes for one another... this one could be Unspoken, that one could be Unattainable we ping ponged back and forth. The La Palette Nude's look so unassuming in the palette itself but transform into something magical and chic on the eyes with absolute ease.  ☆☆☆☆☆

To give Mum a head start on being a bronzed goddess this summer and souping up those gams, I give you something old and something new. As a devote of Tan Towel's Express Tan it was a toss up between that and the cult classic St. Tropez. St. Tropez's bronzing mousse edged out Tan Towel in how fool proof it is to apply and how natural the color looks (no orange oompa loompas). Another product worth the hype especially when you use it with this Thermalabs Ultimitt tanning mitt I found on Amazon. What initially drew me to this particular mitt was how it was already brown and then I found it even comes with a mini one for your face and a reusable pouch for Mum's beach or gym bag. I always thought mitts like these were nice but after using Thermalabs, these are a crucial step to looking airbrushed which is likely why they're constantly sold out locally. Find them on Amazon here.

Something else a few clicks from being delivered to Mum's door, thanks to Amazon, are these lunch tote bags by Hango. Even though they're insulated for food the first thing I thought to myself was,  these would make awesome cosmetics bags. And you know what? They do! Both are the perfect size and when you think about it, traveling with makeup can quickly turn into a mess. One way I try to thwart this when it's hot is to put my lipsticks and eye pencils in the freezer. Since these bags are insulated they would really help things from melting, especially with the deep freeze trick. They're also really nicely constructed out of a thick polyester fabric and come in their own dust bag. Find them over here.

Lastly is something you've seen me mention before and that's this travel brush roll set by Petunia Skincare which can also be easily ordered and shipped as a gift via Amazon. One thing I really have liked is how simple it is to order gifts, have them nicely wrapped with a card, and shipped quickly via Amazon. It's probably one of the most overlooked gift services out there. For more on these pretty pink synthetic brushes for the face, eyes and brows see my previous post here and find last years Mother's Day Gift Guide over here.
