Hello again from the land of advanced darkness! Something that has been warming us up and marking the end of this months great detox has been this mulled wine from an antique Glühwein recipe. Hot Spiced Mulled Wine Recipe
A simple mulled wine from an antique Glühwein recipe you'll love to sip over the holidays.
  • 2 heaping Tablespoons Mulling Spices (my blend includes 6 cloves, nutmeg, whole allspice, dried orange peel, cinnamon sticks broken up and dried rose hips)
  • 1 bottle dry red wine
  • 1 cup Brandy
  • 1 orange sliced into wheels
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
In a large pot add the red wine and rest of ingredients leaving the Brandy aside. The mulling spices can be tied in a cheesecloth ball, placed in a tea ball or you can create your own mulling spice bags using the DIY method found here. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Then add the Brandy and bring once again to a boil. Strain of fruit or use it as garnishment in the glasses.
