Warming Up — Hot Mulled Wine
Hot Spiced Mulled Wine Recipe
A simple mulled wine from an antique Glühwein recipe you'll love to sip over the holidays.
- 2 heaping Tablespoons Mulling Spices (my blend includes 6 cloves, nutmeg, whole allspice, dried orange peel, cinnamon sticks broken up and dried rose hips)
- 1 bottle dry red wine
- 1 cup Brandy
- 1 orange sliced into wheels
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
In a large pot add the red wine and rest of ingredients leaving the Brandy aside. The mulling spices can be tied in a cheesecloth ball, placed in a tea ball or you can create your own mulling spice bags using the DIY method found here. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Then add the Brandy and bring once again to a boil. Strain of fruit or use it as garnishment in the glasses.
