A Christmas Pickle

With all the presents under the tree and hints that it might actually be a white Christmas for my family here on the East Coast, we're in a bit of a pickle. A glittery glass pickle. On Christmas eve they say a pickle was hidden in German Christmas trees with the first person to find it getting a special extra present from Kris Kringle or having the honor of opening the first one.

When my sister told my father the story he immediately reminisced that his parents (who returned to Europe often and were fluent in German) never told him about the tradition nor did they open presents on the 25th. Oh well. He still was the first one to hide a pickle on the tree one Christmas which ended up being incredibly amusing. Cheers to making up new traditions and a Christmas pickle on the tree!
