DIY Bath Oil Bars

THE RECIPE


Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup coconut oil
- 1/4 Cup vegetable glycerin soap
- 1 Tab Cocoa butter
- Essential oil of rose, vanilla &/or orange
- 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E (optional)

Materials Needed:
- An empty tea box or soap molds
- Wax paper (if using tea box)
- A glass measuring cup
- A pot filled with water
- Head safe non-metal spoon


The coconut oil, glycerin and cocoa butter can all be melted together by placing them in the glass measuring cup and in turn placing that into a pot of boiling water, making sure the water only comes up half way to the side of the measuring cup. Another way is to melt the glycerin in the microwave a few seconds at a time and add it to melted cocoa butter and coconut oil done in the aforementioned way. Add in the vitamin E if it's being used.

Pour the liquid oil mixture into a tea box which has been lined with wax paper or in a mold used for soap making. Add up to 10 drops of your favorite essential oil or alternately you can use a cooking extract such as pure (real) vanilla or orange extracts. Gently swirl and allow the bar to set up and become opaque. To speed this process up, place the bath oil bar in the freezer until solid. Cut or score with a knife so pieces can be added to hot, running bath water to dissolve.

To wrap, I like using wax paper and then tissue paper or a pretty wrapping paper on top as you would for soap. Tucking them in handmade vellum envelopes will work great too. Enjoy!
